Types of Cosmetic Dentistry Veneers
There are a few different types of cosmetic dentistry veneers. Our office offers two types:
- Porcelain Dental Veneers – Porcelain veneers are made from porcelain and are custom-fitted to your teeth. We will need to remove a small amount of tooth enamel to fit porcelain veneers to your teeth.
- Composite Dental Veneers – These dental veneers are made of a composite material. We will use a tooth-colored resin to mold and shape your veneers to fit perfectly over your teeth. The resin will match the color of your surrounding natural teeth so that they look completely natural.
Our Process for Placing Dental Veneers
Before we schedule your veneer placement, we will do a thorough dental examination to assess the health and condition of your teeth and gums. We will then create your custom treatment plan and explain how and where the veneers will be placed, what the results will be, and how to care for your veneers. We will then prepare your teeth by removing small layers of enamel from each tooth that is getting a veneer. This creates room for the veneers and a rough surface to which the veneers can adhere. Next, we will create custom dental impressions of your teeth. These impressions will be sent to our dental lab, where your veneers will be custom-made.
When your veneers are ready in a few weeks, we'll schedule another appointment for you to come back in. We will make sure the color, fit, and size are correct. We will then use dental cement to adhere the veneers to the front of your teeth.
